IT is fast being used in lots of industry nowadays. Either because we got too lazy but I would rather term it as because we sought to find the fastest way to solve certain issues.

Developers (people like me) try to develop applications for simplified usage of certain processes. Ever heard of an automated form filling software? This is where someone can customize the layout and also keep the history of your submitted forms for claims and request?

One that TechieDan found was that every time he took medical leave, the tendencies to archive those medical billing forms were hardly done. TechieDan still remembers that his parents used to archive their old bills in physical files. Space is an issue now, so getting software to simplify this process would be great.

ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) is as mentioned by wikipedia.

Systems integrate internal and external management information across an entire organization, embracing finance/accounting, manufacturing, sales and service, customer relationship management, etc. ERP systems automate this activity with an integrated software application. Their purpose is to facilitate the flow of information between all business functions inside the boundaries of the organization and manage the connections to outside stakeholders

Of course in simple terms it is just a software to manage the resources in the company in terms of finance, human resource management, project management and so forth. This is what exactly a company needs. Of course, if TechieDan plans to start a company too, it might not be feasible but once he is stable getting a ERP software like this would be simply worth it.

Suffice to say, there are few ERP Software around the Internet. If you are the CEO or the managing director of your company, how do you manage without it? Here is one such software from TGI.

Well, let’s just say it is a special name for its software. With a software name Enterprise 21 ERP System, it might have 21 functions? Well, what I got from the website though is that there are tonnes of function such as viewing account information, download documentation and system updates, track open issues, view E21 modification history and many more.

There is that E21 again. Well, it looks like I have to try it to know what it means.

There are lots of other ERP software of course, there is no harm trying this one first though. At least the background check was the company involved in developing this software was founder in 1990. Now that is about 21 years of software development.

Antivirus Your PC Codename VIPRE

Most PC out there are either pre-installed with Windows or Open Source Operating System (Linux) but somehow there are a few things which PC and laptop users are afraid when it comes to important data. Are their files and transfer over the Internet secure? What if I’ve got hacked? What if I’ve got VIRUSES?

There are many antiviruses out there, some of them using more resources than others, but today techieDan is going to introduce to you an antivirus which would be using lesser RAM resources compared to the bigger commercialized antiviruses software. Codenamed VIPRE, it not only acts as an Antivirus Software , it’s also an effective spyware buster.

As usual, the most important factor is the speed and performance hungry level of an application when in view of a software. VIPRE seems to be having the edge over most of the antiviruses out there.

Though, unlike other free antiviruses, VIPRE is not free. A single user annual subscription is $29.95 which is about RM90++ in Malaysia. As usual good things don’t come in FREE packages. At least the most important factor is that VIPRE has the 15 DAYS TRIAL period which is what I would say a good evaluation before one can think of purchasing the license.

Looking at this software, techieDan would say that in terms of performance, this one has the edge over the few bigger names. Screens are easily read. Though personally, techieDan loves the cool name for an antivirus (VIPRE, snake biting software). As of now, the current version is 3.1.2775 and a filesize of 13.6 MB. Not bad for it’s small download size.

TTPlayer MP3 Player 5.5 New Update

A few months back, techieDan introduced a new MP3 player software. If you could recall it’s the TTPlayer 5.5 and now after a few months back, techieDan decided to do another review for it. Well, due to it’s latest new updates and unlike the other previous updates, these time they offer something worth noting.

TTPlayer is now out with version 5.5, after a few weeks in beta. What’s new for this version is that it now looks way better in terms of interface and it now comes along with a few skin. Here’s what it looks like, seems to be in sync with Web 2.0 style like standard.

Amazing, the interface looks so sleek, but that’s not just what techieDan wants talk about. As this player tries to download the latest lyrics from song titles that are shown from its database, the lyrics part received another boost in upgrade.

The lyrics could now be made transparent for it’s background and previously one can set the player to be on the top most layer, now even lyrics have that ability. Here’s the screenshot of it.

Yes, the lyrics are now that big and you can continue doing your work with the lyrics playing for one to see. How cool is that? It’s way cool, there’s an option for one to move it about and locking it in position so that one won’t accidentally click on the lyrics while doing some select drop function.

There are also various functions out there, for example the opacity of the player itself. One can set it from none opacity to 90% opacity (Photoshop Users would understand this concept).

After looking at this software, it’s well worth the download, though it still caters more to the Chinese reading community. The file is a mere 2.68Mb and unlike Windows Media Player that takes up load of resources, this one seems to use minimal memory resources. A great tool with a 4.5/5 rating for it this time around. TTPlayer MP3 Player

Welcome to the world of the Internet. The world of cyber age. Many have heard of WinAmp and how it started the genre to play mp3 file formats. Then Microsoft started making it’s Windows Media Player to be compatible with mp3 file formats so people can hear their favorite songs on their PC.

Winamp has even came up with a plugin to incorporate lyrics into the songs being played. But now I would like to introduce to you instead another player called TTPlayer. Unlike other MP3 players out there, this have me given it one of the highest ratings due to their incorporation of lyrics.

The automatic download of lyrics from the database and also the usage of smaller memory makes this application one of the most viable choice. The only downside is that the menus are all in Chinese words which would be a hassle for those that are unable to read the language at all. As of date, the current latest version is the new TTPLayer 5.3 Beta. Here is a screenshot of it using one of the skins they provided.

Above all, I will rate this software an excellent 4/5 due to it’s usefulness and how it excels above most other mp3 softwares. Seeing this way though, the only drawback for not getting a perfect 5/5 is due to it’s language barrier. Maybe they might do something to it in the coming future.
