Firefox 4 Beta unleashed and TechieDan has finally gotten his jump onto the beta stage. Here is where there would be bugs encountered in order to help the Mozilla team to create the ultimate browser experience.

The interface for the Firefox 4 Beta is simply amazing with it’s fluid like tabs and buttons. Browser also loads much faster. It also boasts of a NEW Sync interface which allows one to sync their preferences and sync with another Firefox browser on another PC.

But what’s a browser?

A browser is just like any other browser. The Mozilla team though has given us instead to Android and Maemo users a mobile version of their browser. Another thumbs up to the team there.

How to get this wonderful app? Simply point your location to http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/mobile/beta/ and you’re off for download of the mobile application. Sad to say, this browser only supports a few mobile devices.They are

Firefox is compatible with Android 2.0 and above devices.
Installation requires approximately 32MB internal storage, plus 12MB SD storage.

What does this mean? For older devices like the HTC Hero, this will definitely not be good for them, even if they have upgraded to Android 2.1. The reason, with the requirements of storage space encompassing 32MB on the phone, it’s just not possible. Another sad day for Techiedan as an owner of the HTC Hero.

For those of you who is looking to download Mobile Firefox 4 Beta, you may get it from the market or just scan this code using your QR Scan or any Code Scan applications.

Sidenote: Some sites being opened by the Firefox 4 Beta is buggy and crashes the browser. Let’s do our part as a community to ensure that Firefox would be released earlier after all the bugs are reported and fixed.

Unable to Start Mozilla Firefox

Have been using Mozilla Firefox for awhile and the latest version as of now 3.6. Strangely, Firefox on a fine day suddenly stopped working and when I look at my Windows Task Manager (accessed using shortcut key Ctrl + Shift + Esc) under Processes tab, Firefox did start. There’s a process name firefox.exe running but with no browser in sight. That’s right! TechieDan is unable to start Mozilla Firefox for a reason.

One way to try to overcome this problem is to run Firefox in safe mode. Somehow that didn’t work too.

Go to Task manager and end process “firefox.exe”

Go to programs -> Mozilla Firefox -> open in safe mode.

Firefox in safe mode doesn’t seem able to run too. The best option now would be to reinstall Mozilla Firefox.

Strangely, Firefox is now back in order and ready to run. What a strange phenomenon. But what’s the cause of this problem? Looking through the web, one such cause would be due to an infinite loop in the script running either through the add-ons or certain extensions.

Thus, the option I took was to reinstall Firefox and you will still be able to keep all your bookmarks on the tab.

Mozilla Firefox 3.6 Out 22 Jan 2010

Amazing news, after many days or many months with Firefox 3.5 and with new patches released periodically, Mozilla has brought us FIREFOX 3.6 which is said to be loading websites 20% faster, and much more performance friendly with javascript.

Previously TechieDan was anticipating the arrival of Firefox 3.6 in this article here. The time is here.

After clicking Help > Check for Updates, I am greeted with this screen.

Then finally update is completed. Firefox requested to restart. Restart was done to welcome the splash screen of Firefox 3.6.

Here are the few new notable updates for the Firefox 3.6

Available in more than 70 languages.
Support for a new type of theme called Personas, which allow users to change Firefox’s appearance with a single click.
Protection from out-of-date plugins to keep users safer as they browse.
Open, native video can now be displayed full screen and supports poster frames.
Improved JavaScript performance, overall browser responsiveness, and startup time.
The ability for web developers to indicate that scripts should run asynchronously to speed up page load times.
Continued support for downloadable web fonts using the new WOFF font format.
Support for new CSS attributes such as gradients, background sizing, and pointer events.
Support for new DOM and HTML5 specifications including the Drag & Drop API and the File API, which allow for more interactive web pages.
Changes to how third-party software can integrate with Firefox in order to prevent crashes.

After using it for the past few hours, TechieDan has no complaints. Seemingly it does what it claimed to do. One cool feature is now one can personalize their Firefox using the Persona function. Of course if you don’t have Firefox, you can get it here.

Firefox 3.6 Update Your Java

Good news to Firefox browser users. Firefox 3.6 will be out some time in November 2009. Using Firefox really helps one to debug and with all the additional plugins and add-ons one can get, Firefox 3.6 is going to be a blast. Developers would love it, Web surfers would love it (if it uses even lesser memory). Though one critical news is that web surfers, please please update your Firefox with the newest Java Update. That’s because starting with Firefox 3.6, Java-based applications will NOT work unless one is running Java version 6 Update 10 or newer.

Of course if you decided to not to install it, there’s no harm done. It just won’t display. Though, why not just get the updated Java version and be hassle free. Here are some steps to follow.

Update your Java before updating to Firefox 3.6 and later versions. By updating your Java to the latest version, you will also enable support for the new Java plug-in. This plug-in not only runs Java applications faster in your web browser, but it also adds some cool new features, such as the ability to click and drag certain Java applications from inside your web browser to your desktop!
OR
Stay with your current version of Firefox (3.5 or older). Newer versions of Java will still work with versions of Firefox older than 3.6.

FireFox 3 Beta Review

I am currently running Firefox 3 Beta 4 in my home PC. When installing FireFox 3 Beta 4, you’ll be greeted with this FireFox page.

Looks very futuristic and with promises of easier usage for web developers and extension developers, this version of FireFox 3 is so goin to kick ass. Previously I was harboring on the subject of the launch of FireFox 3. Yes, since it’s first beta stages, it seems that FireFox 3 is still a bit buggy in certain ways. The most annoying thing is when visiting a site with adobe flash. The adobe flash plugin seems to alerting everytime even though the plugin is installed. Maybe due to it’s beta stages.

Though I am seriously happy with the new plugins that come along with this beta version of FireFox. With tools like WebDeveloper and GreaseMonkey, this sort of ease my web development process. Yes, and StumbleUpon toolbar works fine with FireFox 3 Beta. So far so good, even the memory consumption doesn’t take as much.

When accessing another chatbox in an iframe, it jumps out.
