First, a brief introduction as to what I is this post all about. Some of you who are still using blogger or blogspot would have just download a theme just like that. Now the problem is that you’re not that familiar with html and javascript and the layout seems to give some problem.

I used a blogger theme for my blogspot blog at Weird Daniel and here I will say what is wrong when I first pre-installed the theme. The blogspot theme is taken from InfoCreek.com.

Now lookat the post title, there are words which are undefined undefined undefined. It looks like that there is something wrong with it. Screenshot of the above was taken from the blog Gregorule.blogspot.com so it so happens as I was using the same theme, I will show you what it actually should display.

Noticed that there are dates shown beside the button. Yes, now how to fixed it then?

Basically all I ever did was to change the Timestamp Format to the one below.

Edit : Thanks gregorule for rechecking for me, here is the right one instead.

Conclusion, why does it work when I change it to this? That’s because the internal script inside the theme needs the date to be in that format. So now you know! Hope this help those who are using this theme.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

A few days back, was having problems with my Adobe Photoshop CS3 program, with the white of the application showing a tint yellow from original white. The picture was fine, opening a random jpeg file with Microsoft Paint shows it was white but opening with Adobe Photoshop shows white as yellowish tinted white.

Now what seems to be the problem. After looking through online news, I saw most are clueless and some said the driver of the monitor needs to be uninstall. Well, so far it will work if you do that, which means Photoshop has something to with your monitor calibration. So what was my action for this instead? Here’s my solution.

For CS3 users, go to Edit > Color Settings or press Shift + Ctrl + K and set your color profile to e-sRGB which somehow works for me. Yes, that simple only.

Until I find another hefty kind of solution, I think this is just enough to make it work. If you have another alternative better solution for this. Why not post in the comments to help others.

Was working in the company and seeing the need to have a temporary storage device like the USB Thumb Drive, to transfer files and to do installation. It was sort of like a necessity then though it was a wrong choice to make when you’re putting your thumb drive on other people’s desktop.

A wrong choice to make though when I brought it back home and instead of exploring the thumb drive, I double clicked the icon, and it came up saying running some programs.

My first reaction was Oh shit…. Virus attacked. So I scanned thru the Windows Task Manager for any processes and stopped them and used AVG Free Antivirus and also Ad Aware to kill any viruses. At first it seemed to work and I found out that it was running some kind of software which is more like macro program. Somehow the virus is still not cleared yet when I did that, and also it will create a folder named Heap41a in C:\ drive. Anyway this was my experience.

1. Go to Windows Task Manager by pressing shortcut key Ctrl + Shift + Esc and view processes. End Process of those name svchost which is run under the User. Do not terminate svchost services under SYSTEM, LOCAL SERVICE and NETWORK SERVICE.
2. After done, you can use your cmd to delete the undesirable heap41a folder. Go to Start > Run and type cmd. Type cd\ to go to the main C:\ folder then type the following rmdir /s heap41a and press Enter. (This is a faster way)
3. Go to Start > Run and type Regedit and search for any heap41a file and delete the register key.

Well, I guessed that should be all. Funny that this virus is really a pain in the ass and not all Antivirus could detect it. So for now this is the only way, unless I create an automated process.

If you’re still unclear about the steps, you may reached me by replying in the comments here. Hope this is helpful.

Just when I was slowly getting the hang of it using the Wordpress 2.7 Beta version, out of nowhere, the Version 2.7 Beta 2 version is out. Boy, it looks like it seem that there are lots and lots of bug fixes.

Now who would have thought that there would be tonnes of bug lying around in Wordpress 2.7. Looks like more like a revamp on the Wordpress engine with a little tweak here and there. Once again I am impressed.

Some slight note on current Wordpress 2.6 is that, at times I can upload files using the flash Uploader, so this brought me using the typical one file a time uploader. At least that’s working. So maybe they’ll create another Wordpress 2.7 Beta 3 and hopefully the release date of Wordpress 2.7 will be on time.

Well, I am definitely anticipating this.

ps : Wonder why though, google feedburner is giving lotsa error 500 problems these days.

Yes, though all one need is to purchase either a MBF XD 42″ Full HD LCD TV at RM3,599 or a Samsung 40″ Full HD LCD TV at RM4,599 and this is all just it takes to get yourself for a 8D/7N stay of a fantastic holiday getaway.

Though this deal only valid from October 31 2008 till February 28 2009. Here’s a review of the Samsung LCD TV. With a resolution of 1920 x 1080p and the p refers to progressive scanning, a method for transmitting moving images where all the lines of each frame are drawn in sequence. Smoother, more detailed images can be produced with less flicker.

For more info you may brwose thru http://www.mbfcards.com and here are the specifications of the 40″ Samsung Full HD LCD TV.

It was expected at TechieDan that Wordpress 2.7 would at least appear on the month of November and so it did. Luckily for TechieDan, most of the time he uses Firefox for his wordpress testing and why is it still beta? it’s for the fix for both IE and Opera browser users to hold before they can get the final release of the Wordpress 2.7 final version.

Seemingly, time for me to get my hands on the Wordpress 2.7 and test it out on the localhost. So you’ve got to hand it over to the guys at Wordpress.org who decided to come out with this beta version before the proper release of the Wordpress 2.7 on November 10.

Don’t believe it’s coming out by that time, Wordpress 2.7 Beta Edition is stated right at the post here, so expect more test and tweaks as the guys/girls there serve to make Wordpress users satisfied. If you’re just contented with trying out the beta version without reading the rest of it, I’ve included the link to the download file.

All you need is just to CLICK HERE!!! Happy Wordpressing!

Setting up your Java environment to work on is as easy as how it seems to be. With Sun now offering executable JDK program, nothing much needs to be done.

As of date, current JDK is the JDK 6.0 kit which was said to be powerful that the previous versions beforehand. Download and then install and voila, you’re good to run. All you need is to go into the bin folder of the JDK and run the javac and the java commands. This time I won’t be using an IDE though to explain t

he procedure.

If you wanna set up your environment variables on Windows, here’s how you do it on Windows XP.

Right Click My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Environment Variables.

Under User Variable for Users > New. Type the following.

Variable Name : JAVA_HOME
Variable Value : [Location of JDK folder] ex: D:\JDK6.0

After this you may now freely use your JDK to compile and run your code anywhere on the PC environment. I will touch on the compilation part using pure JDK later instead of an IDE in the coming parts.

If you’re a wordpress user, you would have seen some wordpress have this function to include a thumbnail image and maybe sometimes include your Mood level.

Based on a blog at AbsoluteSpook.com, one can add in their thumbnail to the blog entry. Well, by default an automatic graphic is displayed instead. By instruction on the theme, all one need is to modify the custom fields in Wordpress! Now the problem is how can one do that?

A simple explanation is go to your blog post that you wanted to modify or add the custom fields and select Custom Fields Below.

Choose a Key and the value.

Key - Name
Value - Daniel

Then add this

<?php the_meta(); ?>

Here’s how one can display too.

<ul class='post-meta'>
<li><span class='post-meta-key'>Curently Reading:
</span> Calvin and Hobbes</li>
<li><span class='post-meta-key'>Today's Mood:</span>
Jolly and Happy</li>
</ul>

There are actually many more ways to use the custom field in wordpress. If you really need to know, you can refer to the Wordpress help guide for more extreme use of the Custom Field.

Being a long time subscriber of BlogOhBlog, I definitely wouldn’t want to miss this chance, as this theme was also created solely due to the mentioned site. The conditions of this contest is relatively simple, all I need is to mentioned that I am taking part in this contest right here and I might stand a chance to win the free premium themes.

I also think I need to change my theme into something worthwhile, don’t you think so?
