Simple Steps To Protect Your PC
Written by techieDan on May 7, 2008 – 2:09 amI’ve been paged by relatives and even friends as to help them clean their viruses and advertisements that pop up while they’re surfing the internet. Some even have problem deleting a certain file which actually seem malicious. Why do all these things happen? Well, they happen so that people like me can earn money through it?? Hahaha.. not really.
I’m going to give some pointers as to what one should do!
- Do not simply click links that may deem unnecessary which have tag lines like “I love my body, come take a look” - MSN virus
- For doing transaction online, make sure that connection is from a secured connection. Look for the url with https://
- Never click redirection links from an email to the login page of transaction site. They might be phsing the current site to get your information.
- Always Always install an antivirus, if you need a free one get either AVG or Avast or the many other choices out there.
- If you have an antivirus, please update your virus definition file so it keeps up to date to the latest attack and viruses.
- Use Firefox if you need to for better security. Well, if you want to avoid the target of many hackers who tried to find a loophole in Microsoft Products, ie : Internet Explorer.
Ok then, maybe this points might not be enough, but at least it’ll help in a certain way. So whatever, think wisely.

Wordpress 2.5.1 Bug Fixes
Written by techieDan on April 26, 2008 – 2:09 amLooks like Wordpress has done it again. Another 70 other new enhancements or rather the negative term, bug fixings and stuffs for the current 2.5 but we all know in the software world, there is definitely bound to be bugs and errors. So don’t we all just love our programmers to the max.
Well, after being away for almost a week, it’s time for me to rekindle this blog back to it’s feet. One most important feature that I will think will help is the new Media Uploader. Previously I have to alter my .htaccess file manually or rather overwrite the current one with the corrected .htaccess file.
I heard that Wordpress 2.5.1 has already fixed that bug. Well if you’re a Wordpress user, you will truly understand what I meant by that. So let’s all keep our fingers crossed and hope for more improvements from the guys at Wordpress. ![]()

Alexa Ranking Dramatic Shift
Written by techieDan on April 17, 2008 – 8:56 amIt was 8:30am in the morning 17th April 2008(to the States it might be 8:30pm 16th April) and I logged in into my Personal Computer. Guessed what, I was shocked to see my Alexa Ranking dropped from 700k to 2 million ++. Oh my, what is happening??
I think that Alexa has started to change their ranking for webs and blogs alike. I see a sudden dramatic change to the alexa ranking that I was trying to search for an answer on the world wide web. Seems so far not a tid bit mention about it.
Either they have gone the google ranking way and decided to modify and enhance their codes. Or they perhaps had some glitch in their code and debugging it. Well, imagine from 700k to 2 million drop is a lot. I would go for the new codes that they are implementing. Let’s wait for more news from Alexa before we confirm it yeah.
Slight Update : Looks like it was announced on Alexa Blog with the new Alexa Ranking system.
Some excerpts from the site….
aggregate data from multiple sources to give you a better indication of website popularity among the entire population of Internet users.
You gave us many other suggestions as well, and we are working hard to implement them. We won’t tell any secrets just yet, but you can expect to see new features rolled out over the coming weeks and months.
Looks like we can look forward to a new style of rank for Alexa Rank
