Tidy Your Codes

Written by techieDan on July 8, 2008 – 7:05 pm

Do you tidy your codes when you’re coding, or do you just jumble them up so that only you can understand? Well, some people have their own thoughts about this, but if you are the only one writing the program and it’s for personal use, then yes, you can go ahead and jumble the codes all you want.

When I meant tidy your codes, one should also learn how to apply comments so that if ever the programmer were to refer to it again, there’s no need to see which part goes which part.

Well, if all else fails and you still can’t understand your own codes, then I think it must have been because you don’t have enough sleep

50 Rupiah

Written by techieDan on June 11, 2008 – 12:52 pm

What can 50 cents buy you these days? Well, practically nothing much now. I’ve got this thing about collecting coins from other countries and the one that amazed me the most was the 50 Rupiah from Indonesia.

Yes you heard me right. In countries like Malaysia, England, Australia you have what you called a cent coin system. But in places like Indonesia, Japan, Korea you have the fixed currencies which have no cents at all. So considering that, things are paid by a thousand like 10,000 Rupiah for a piece of bread. Hmm… but a significant 50 Rupiah, that’s rare though. So here’s how a 50 Rupiah looks like.

50 Rupiah

It’s feels a bit light. If only 50 Rupiah was 50 Pound.

MUP.sys Error Solved

Written by techieDan on May 30, 2008 – 9:32 am

Previously, I had a weird error that’s been bugging me. Well, Here’s the scenario.

PC Affected

OS : Windows XP

I went and shared both my Drive C: and Drive D: into the network. While accessing another PC to access these 2 drives, the shared PC stopped functioning and hanged. So then I proceed to restart it. Little did I know, it was a very bad mistake to make.

Then appeared before me, a Windows XP Loading which doesn’t load at all. Trying to restart in safe mode doesn’t seem to start with the process of loading stopping at MUP.sys. Then to my horror, it’s the same everywhere for every safe mode. Not wanting to give up, I searched through the net and some even say about replacing the MUP.sys or disable the MUP.sys. Though I’ve tried the following solution and my problem was solved.

Solution
Put in your Windows XP CD and go into Repair Console Mode.
In console mode ex : c:/>
Type in CHKDSK /P for error check
If error detected Type CHKDSK /R for repair

The above process took me quite long that I decided to leave my PC overnight for the CHKDSK /R.
In the morning though, I found out that there was error on the PC and it says it already fixed the issue. So I restarted the PC and voila, it’s back to normal.

Not to say this is the solution for most MUP.sys problems. This was my scenario, if you really need to refer to others, here are some links.

Windows XP freezes at mup.sys, how do I fix it?
How I resolved my mup.sys hang issue

Updates : By the way, something is wrong once again, and I must say this MUP.sys is really screwed up. I recommend a full format though. The fix it has messed up my registry.

Kingston Data Traveler Durability

Written by techieDan on May 21, 2008 – 8:27 pm

Here’s what happened one fine day. I came back from office, then I put my shirt on the chair. Not knowingly, My Kingston 1Gb Data Traveler Thumb Drive was left in the pocket. Now what happened after that, the shirt goes into the washing machine. Oh no………….

So then after the washing was finished, I was like, my data and stuffs are all in there. What to do what to do? But surprisingly, it’s still working. Woah.. I must say thank you to Kingston for creating a waterproof, bubble foam proof Kingston Thumb Drive.

2 Colums or 3 Columns

Written by techieDan on May 16, 2008 – 9:44 pm

Personally, some people find that on a site, it’s wise to design your blog into a 2 column blog. Though times have changed, there are even four column blog themes. But then that’s out of the topic.

To me I personally feel that I have a balance of both 2 and 3 columns amongst all my blogs. Well, having said that, it all depends on your taste or whatever you’re blogging about. Some even put their blogroll on the main page, which I presumably would ensure that this kind of blog needs a 3 column theme.

Practical isn’t it? Well, why do you chose a 3 column, 2 column, sometimes is just a mystery. But I’ve a 2 column blog theme modified on the design. The problem is how do I create the Blog Theme Viewer for others to demo. This is getting on my nerve.
