HTC Hero (GSM) to Finally Receive Eclair Update
South East Asian GSM HTC Hero users, there will be a new update for HTC Hero coming and it will be done over the air (FOTA – Firmware Over The Air). HTC Hero has revealed in their official website that update will come and users are recommended to backup their data before updating this new firmware. Most probably the Eclair OS comes along with it.

Your phone will receive a notification of this update when it is made available. Simply press OK to accept the update via a data connection such as Wi-Fi or GPRS/3G. After installing the update, you can confirm a successful update by confirming the Build number (From the Home Screen go to MENU> Settings> About Phone> Build number). The new Build number after the update will be 2.73.707.91 (Singapore) & 2.73.728.91 (Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia)

Looks like a good thing after all the users of HTC Hero are waiting for a new update.
Does anyone know which kind of video files are supported? I keep in mind the Intuition solely may dl 3gp utilizing opera mini. I downloaded the twist ap, possibly that is the problem? How can I watch movies from sites aside from youtube? Which file types? Often I am given the choice of 3gp or mpeg4. Cannot get either to work. Thanks for your time! Rattling I want I was eligible for the upgrade to EVO!
Thank you for the good article, I’m very excited. I’ve had my phone for simply over a month now and am truly taking part in all of the free apps from the android market, being able to have the internet and navigation at my fingertips all the time. The one lower than idea feature is the image/video textual content messages, as they aren’t downloading properly.
HTC is slow on updating the ROMs. I quit waiting and install custom ROM already. Working even better.
