Company Blocked Domains

Written By: techieDan on May 20, 2009 One Comment

How would you know if your company blocked access to certain websites and urls. As a matter of fact, one of the ways a company are able to block is by using a router or through a proxy server.

Seemingly I tasted this feeling too, when the company I am working at is blocking Youtube, Blogspot (clueless as to why they block this), Friendster, Flickr (photos are not allowed??). Now if you’re still pretty unsure as to whether it was blocked or just a minor glith of a 404 error, this is the screen I see when I tried to access a blogspot address.

URL Cannot be Retrieved

Access Denied.

Access control configuration prevents your request from being allowed at this time. Please contact your service provider if you feel this is incorrect.

The above screen only applies for Mozilla Firefox.

So what should I do? Darn… looks like I have to rely on Google Reader to received RSS from blogspot blogs.
