Wordpress 2.6 Coming Up

Written by techieDan on July 3, 2008 – 6:12 pm

Looks like the guys at wordpress.org, after giving us the all new improved interface of Wordpress 2.5 is now in the process of getting the Wordpress 2.6 up.

Well, not yet though, but surely, well, heck there’s even a download for the Wordpress 2.6 Beta 2 up already. Now of course if you would like to know what are the recent changes, here are some brief description of it. A lot of fixes and new enhancements with an integration with Tumblr. The admin interface would also be a lot faster.

Though, one thing I need some fixing is the widget interface, when sometimes moving the widget around, it goes haywire. Now for those plugin writers and programmers, looks like it’s time for you people to update your plugins to support 2.6 on the day it’s released.

Kudos to the Guys in Wordpress.Org

Rumored D700 Now Confirmed

Written by techieDan on July 1, 2008 – 1:40 pm

When the news about D700 started to surface, it was at first thought of as a fake or photoshopped photo. Nikon finally announced it on their web with the Nikon D700 out, and this time, it’s going to be a new FX Semi Pro DSLR out there for Nikonians to select from. This D700 can replace the so called D200 and D300 DSLR specs, though only the cost would be a bit pricey with the cost range about $3000++ (USD).

A few advantage though of getting this camera compared to the ones of D300 and D200 respectively the D700 features an FX-format first introduced with the Nikon D3. In a funny thing, it combines both what they called a merge between D300 and partly D3 respectively.

Nikon D700

A quote from www.nikon.com

The D700 has everything it takes to satisfy a broad
spectrum of photographic needs.The 12.1-megapixel FX-format
CMOS sensor with a sensing area of 36.0 x 23.9 mm; a sensitivity
range of ISO 200 to 6400; continuous shooting at up to 5
frames per second (and up to 8 fps with the optional Multi-Power
Battery Pack MB-D10; Nikon's exclusive 51-point AF system; Scene
Recognition System for optimum autofocus, auto exposure and auto
white balance detection – these are but a few of the advanced
capabilities of the extraordinary new D700.

Also be alert for the new SB-900 Flash Gun from Nikon.

Bluetooth USB Dongle

Written by techieDan on June 28, 2008 – 6:00 pm

How do you share files? One cheap way when there was no Bluetooth laptop is by using a Bluetooth USB Dongle.

Bluetooth USB Dongle is a quick and inexpensive solution as a Bluetooth plug-on modules to computers. It enables computers to communicate with any bluetooth peripherals (such as computers, notebooks, Cell-phones, printers, PDAs, digital cameras, etc.) wirelessly.

Bluetooth USB Dongle

One such product I am using is from TinyTech. Well so far it supports Win 98/98SE, Win ME, Win 2000 and Win XP. Ain’t sure about Vista yet, but I guessed there’s a driver out there.

What is nofollow Tag

Written by techieDan on June 26, 2008 – 12:07 pm

Well, sometimes you see certain people talking all about making their links no follow. Well, what do they mean by that? First you got to understand, a nofollow tag is so that Google PR doesn’t count that as a proper backlink. Just a normal link. Well, some bloggers do in fact remove the nofollow tag from their comments so that other bloggers have backlinks too.

Well, after talking about it, how about adding this nofollow tag.

rel=nofollow

That’s it, if you’re still unsure, here is a sample nofollow tag in a URL

<a href=”http://techiedan.com” rel=”nofollow”>TechieDan</a>

There are certain reasons why people put the nofollow tag. An example would be writing paid postings. Well, though advertisers wouldn’t like you if you do that. So have fun thinking what you should put and what you should not.

Written by techieDan on June 25, 2008 – 4:04 pm

You love YouTube don’t ya? Well, you also wished you could download the videos from YouTube thus saving the trouble of reloading it again.

Another thing too, you want to convert it to mp3, 3gp, mov or even mpeg files. Well, I’ve been using this tool myself too. It’s the youtube downloader from altavista. Though previously it wasn’t altavista’s property.

Youtube Downloader

File size not that big, and it’s mighty handy too. If you would like to, just get it from this website!
